التقى وزير المياه والبيئة المهندس توفيق الشرجبي مع وكيلة الأمين العام للامم المتحدة والمدير المعاون للبرنامج الانمائي أوشا موناري وذلك على هامش اعمال مؤتمر الامم المتحدة للمياه في نيويورك.
واستعرض معها التحديات المائية التي يواجهها اليمن والآثار السلبية للصراع على كافة القطاعات الخدمية بما في ذلك قطاع المياه. وكذا التحديات التي تواجه الحكومة في مواجهة آثار التغير المناخي والجفاف وأثر ذلك على تناقص كميات المياه المتاحة لأغراض الشرب والزراعة.
وقد عبرت وكيلة الأمين العام للامم المتحدة عن اهتمام البرنامج الانمائي في توسيع التعاون وتقديم كافة اشكال الدعم الممكن.. مؤكدة دعمها لخطط قطاع المياه في تنفيذ مشاريع مائية مستدامة.
كما ثمنت جهود وإنجازات قطاع المياه في التعاطي مع الواقع المائي وايجاد حلول مبتكرة في تحسين خدمات المياه والصرف الصحي ومواجهة اثار التغير المناخي.
